My opinion is simply that the available evidence does not show that he has been alive since 2004. Miracle escapes and kidney transplants are a possibility, although why he'd cease making videos would be a mystery.

@Yam is RIGHT ON. I've been saying for years that the proper analogy is "The Dread Pirate Roberts."

It became apparent that – at least in the early days Iraq – the group calling itself AQI had no serious connections to what we think of as "Al Qaeda". They just picked the name because it sounded better than "2 Guys and a Roadside Bomb." I think we're finally seeing the same thing here with OBL, with other people stepping in.

bin laden has scores of siblings as I recall, and scores of children too, I believe, not to mention millions who would die for him. In view of this, how hard would it be for him to find a kidney donor? I'm not about to dispute the knowledge and wisdom of Ed, but I believe he could be alive and thriving with one or maybe two new kidneys. Your thoughts, anyone?

When was the last time they actually used Bin Laden as motivation for anything? I think he pretty much fell off out of the spotlight right after we invaded Iraq in 2003….

This could be a good franchising opportunity here for some enterprising Jihadi, but not as Keyser Soze as much as the Dread Pirate Roberts.
